ONE SONG: a new podcast series hosted by Peter Broderick

While live concerts have been on pause for the last year, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on what I’m doing, and I’ve been giving a lot of thought as to how I can best be of use moving forward. After much contemplation, I realized that what the world really needs right now is another dude with a podcast.

(JOKE!!!)

In all seriousness though, I am delighted to share this new project and I’m curious to see where it will go. The idea is simple . . . each episode will be centered around one song, and there will be a long-form conversation around this one song. What’s the story of the song? How has it changed over time? How and where was it written and recorded? The conversation can go anywhere, but it always comes back to this one song.

It’s a great honour to be kicking off the series with my dear friend and incredible musician David Allred. I wanted to speak with him about his song “Hey Stranger” because I already knew there was a deep story behind the song . . . a mysterious story about a person who disappeared suddenly out of David’s life.

With this series I aim to bring a greater contextual awareness to the music and musicians I love, and take a deep dive of curiosity into the nature of ONE SONG. And perhaps I’ll discover some great new songs and musicians along the way. If you or someone you know has a great story about a song, feel free to get in touch.

Available HERE in both audio and video formats . . . for now only on YouTube, Soundcloud, and Anchor . . . though hopefully distributed everywhere eventually. Episode #2 with the one and only Sam Amidon coming next week!
